SPASC member attends Female Learn to Foil Clinic with Aussie SailGP team members

Earlier this year SPASC member Alexandra Talbot applied to participate in a female 'Learn to Foil' clinic in Sydney and was successful in her application. She attended the clinic at Woollahra Sailing Club in mid-January.

The clinic was run by the Inspire Sailfoiling Foundation (ISF) in partnership with the Australian SailGP Team and the group of 9 sailors had two days training on foiling Waszp with coaching by Tash Bryant of SailGP and Jervis Tilly of the ISF.

Alexandra had a ball on the clinic. "It was brilliant and the most rewarding sailing experience of my life so far. Sailing a WASZP is very physically demanding, requiring constant effort on the mainsheet so day 1 was very difficult, Day 2 was easier as I started to foil and get my balance on the boat and the excitement really kicks in. Very different to my Laser - and they are so fast - the ribs struggle to keep up with you on when you are on the foils. Brilliant!"

Congratulations and well done Alexandra to be selected for the clinic and we look forward to seeing you and your Laser at SPASC again soon to join our growing team of female sailors on the water!
