SailGP to visit SPASC!

Speers Point Amateur Sailing Club is honoured to have been selected as part of the SailGP Trophy Tour ahead of the Australian leg of the Championship in Sydney on 18-19 February 2023. As a selected club, SPASC will host a one-off training session for our Junior members with sailors from the Australian SailGP Team. The team will also bring the SailGP trophy with them so the students may see it in person and have photos taken with it.

The event will take place from the SPASC Clubhouse within Speers Point Park on Saturday 4 February 2023, from 11 am to 12.45 pm.

Schedule

• 11:00 am - media, athletes and children meet at the club

• 11:10 am - media invited to grab interview footage

• 11:30 am - athletes provide an on-water lesson to the children

• 12:00 pm - teams racing application of the morning's lesson in two groups, each led by an Australian SailGP team-member

• 12:30 pm - race wrap-up and presentation

• 12:35 pm - children-led Q&A

Local media will be invited to this event and the SailGP team will be accompanied by their own photographer and videographer. Parents/guardians of children in attendance are asked to provide consent for their children to be filmed/photographed for promotional purposes.
